Chiba Prefecture Introduces COVID-19 Infected Pregnant and Nursing Women Hospitalization Coordination Support System "COVI-CO"

Smart119 Inc. announced today that the "COVI-CO Covid-19 Coordination Powered by Smart:DR system", which was developed based on Smart:DR (patent number: 6166114), a disaster crisis management system enhancement service operated by Smart119, has been introduced to support the hospitalization and coordination of pregnant and nursing mothers infected with the new coronavirus in Chiba Prefecture.

Due to the rapid increase in the number of patients with Covid-19, many medical facilities and local governments throughout Japan have put in place a system equivalent to "disaster medicine" in order to secure the number of hospital beds and provide treatment according to symptoms.
Under these circumstances, there was a tragic case in Chiba Prefecture in August this year where a 29-week pregnant woman infected with Covid-19 gave birth prematurely at home and her newborn baby died because no emergency transportation could be found. This case prompted the prefecture to consider how to further facilitate the hospitalization of pregnant women infected with Covid-19.

Smart:DR is a system for sharing information between hospitals, first-aid centers, medical personnel, and disaster headquarters in the event of a disaster, to support the rapid establishment of disaster medical care and the creation of a system that can respond immediately to changes in the situation. By customizing this system, we developed "COVI-CO Covid-19 Coordination Powered by Smart:DR," a hospitalization coordination support system for pregnant and nursing women infected with the new coronavirus, in Chiba Prefecture.
The main functions are as follows:

Patient information sharing function (under development)
Acceptance request information sharing function
Acceptance/rejection reply function for medical institutions
Automatic aggregation of the results of acceptance/rejection replies
Information will be shared among family obstetricians, prefectural medical coordination headquarters, maternal transport coordinators, and perinatal care centers.
