We are pleased to announce that we have changed the name of our disaster crisis management system for medical institutions, "Smart:DR" (patent number: Patent No. 6166114), to "respon:sum". This means that along with the development and addition of functions to COVI-CO Covid-19 Coordination Powered by Smart:DR, a support system for hospitalization coordination of patients infected with Covid-19, we have upgraded the system to a system that can support the business continuity of medical institutions not only in times of disaster but also in normal times.
In March 2015, Smart119 Inc. started to provide a disaster crisis management system enhancement service, which was developed to prevent medical institutions from malfunctioning in the event of a disaster, support "medical business continuity" (*) in affected areas, and speed up the rescue of injured and sick patients. In the wake of the spread of Covid-19, we evolved the system into "respon:sum," a system that supports the continuity of medical business in all aspects, including disasters, that medical institutions face.
**The system complies with business continuity planning (BCP), which is required to be formulated by medical institutions nationwide.
The spread of Covid-19 since March 2020 has been perceived as a "disaster" by medical institutions, prompting them to reform their treatment systems. This system has been actively used by medical institutions to prevent "health care collapse". However, due to the fear of "health care collapse" caused by the rapid changes in the situation of Covid-19 (rapid increase in the number of hospitalized patients, increased risk of infection among hospital staff, emergence of unknown mutant strains), as well as the start of vaccination of medical personnel, there have been requests for additional functions to this system.
In August of this year, Chiba Prefecture experienced a tragic incident in which a pregnant woman with Covid-19 was unable to find emergency transport, resulting in the death of her newborn baby. In response to the prefectural government's request, the COVI-CO Covid-19 Coordination Powered by Smart:DR has been introduced to Chiba Prefecture and the Chiba Perinatal Center to provide support for coordinating the admission of pregnant and nursing women infected with the new coronavirus, as well as the admission and transfer of severely infected patients.

Functions that contribute to a healthy medical system have been developed and implemented as a result of the pandemic. The system has been upgraded to support the continuation of medical services not only in times of disaster, but also in normal times.
This ICT-based system is designed based on the concepts of "transmission and response confirmation," "information sharing," "aggregation," and "summarizing". In addition, the system has been developed on the assumption of "unprecedented disasters," allowing for the flexible addition of functions. As a system that supports a healthy medical system in all aspects, "respon:sum" will continue to evolve and strive to strengthen regional medical care.
