In September 2021, the emergency medical service "Smart119" was selected for the "TRY! YAMANASHI! Demonstration Experiment Support Project" sponsored by Yamanashi Prefecture, and a field survey was conducted in the fall of the same year, followed by a verification experiment in December, with the aim of solving the problem of emergency transport difficulties (ambulances being rejected by multiple hospitals) in Yamanashi Prefecture. On January 18, 2022, the final stage of the demonstration experiment was conducted with the participation of the Higashi Yamanashi Fire Department, Yamanashi Prefectural Central Hospital, Yamanashi Kosei Hospital, and the University of Yamanashi Hospital.
â—†70% reduction in hospital selection and negotiation time for EMS teams
In three emergency cases, the time required for hospital selection and negotiation was reduced by 70%. A questionnaire survey was conducted after the completion of the project, and the emergency team said that "The stress in hospital selection and negotiation was reduced", and "The effectiveness in accepting emergency patients" were approved by the medical institutions. In addition, for each emergency case, we received an open feedback and frank opinions from the participants, which made the experiment conscious of the implementation of the system in Yamanashi Prefecture.
Based on the results of the questionnaire and the figures, it was recognized that this system, which shares information on emergency patients between emergency teams and medical institutions, is a promising solution to transportation difficulties and will contribute to the safety and security of the lives of the people of Yamanashi Prefecture.
