Our medical business continuity support system "respon:sum" is now available on "Cotocellar", an IT service matching website run by MC Healthcare, Inc, who provides comprehensive support for hospital operations.
Medical institutions nationwide are required to formulate a "Business Continuity Plan (BCP)" in order to ensure the continuity and early recovery of medical business in emergency situations such as disasters, terrorism, and pandemics.
Interest in BCP is particularly increasing during this COVID-19 pandemic, where medical institutions report cases in which the number of infected staff members increase and the continuity of medical business is at risk.
"Cotocellar" aims to improve operational efficiency, management, and quality of medical care through digital transformation and "respon:sum" was adopted for the first time in the risk management and BCP solution section.

COVI-CO" adds "Patient Information Sharing Function (Registration of Pregnancy Information by Family Obstetricians)" to "COVI-CO"

We are pleased to announce that we have added "Patient Information Sharing Function (Registration of Pregnancy Information by Family Obstetricians)" to "COVI-CO Covid-19 Coordination Powered by respon:sum," a supporting system for coordinating hospitalizations of pregnant women infected with COVID-19, which was introduced in Chiba prefecture in October 2021.
In response to an incident that occurred in Chiba prefecture last August, in which a transportation destination could not be found for a 29-week pregnant woman infected with COVID-19, resulting in premature labor at home and the death of her newborn baby, the prefecture has developed and put into operation a new type of a supporting system to coordinate hospitalization for COVID-19 infected pregnant women, "COVI-CO Covid-19 Coordination Powered by respon:sum". As of January this year, this system has contributed to coordinating hospitalization for five COVID-19 infected pregnant women.

The newly added "Patient Information Sharing Function (Registration of Pregnancy Information by Family Obstetricians)" is a function for sharing information on COVID-19 clinical symptoms and pregnancy (delivery history, expected delivery date, underlying disease, complications and obstetric abnormalities, etc.) held by family obstetricians (hospitals and clinics) in Chiba Prefecture registered in this system. The information will be shared in advance with the perinatal maternal and child health care center, etc., to contribute to speeding up the hospitalization adjustment process.

We are pleased to announce that "respon:sum", our medical business continuity support system was introduced and started operation by Kobe Medical Cooperative Association Kobe Kyodo Hospital.
The hospital, located in Nagata-ku, Kobe City, the area struck in the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, provided disaster medical care as the relief station. Based on this experience, the hospital has been promoting a business continuity plan (BCP) to minimize damage and provide quick medical care in the event of a disaster. This system, developed in accordance with the BCP for disasters that all medical institutions nationwide are required to formulate, will improve the hospital's provision of disaster medical care.

Kobe Medical Cooperative Association Kobe Kyodo Hospital is a hospital with approximately 350 employees and 167 beds (86 general, 48 recovery-phase rehabilitation, 19 palliative care, and 14 community comprehensive care) that provides comprehensive medical and nursing care from acute to chronic phases with the aim of offering "reliable medical care available for anyone, anytime". It is a medical institution close to the community, providing home and institutional support in cooperation with local health, welfare, and other medical institutions, and actively responding to requests for hospitalization and examinations from general practitioners through the establishment of a "Community Medical Department Community Relations Section".

"respon:sum" was developed in accordance with the business continuity plan (BCP), which is designed for hospitals and companies to minimize damage and ensure business continuity and recovery in emergency situations such as disasters or terrorist attacks. The "respon:sum App Version," which can be used on PCs in hospitals and digital terminals (smartphones and tablets) owned by each staff member, has functions to confirm the safety of hospital staff, request assembly, and distribute messages simultaneously, supporting the assembly and organization of staff in the event of a disaster. In addition, the "Deployment Department Map" function enables the sharing of information on personnel assignments to multiple first-aid stations in the disaster area, making it possible to construct a flexible disaster medical care system in a disaster area where conditions can change rapidly.

Kobe Kyodo Hospital conducted a trial operation of "respon:sum" during a disaster evacuation drill in October 2021, and confirmed its effectiveness in supporting disaster medical care, leading to its introduction. The hospital is located in Nagata-ku, Kobe City, the disaster area of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake (Jan 1995), and has experience of serving as a rescue center for disaster victims. The "respon:sum" system, which can be used on each staff member's digital terminals, will strengthen the hospital's disaster countermeasures to support the lives of local residents from a medical standpoint.

Smart119 Demonstration Experiment Conducted at the Kyohoku Fire Department

September 2021, the emergency medical service "Smart119" was selected for the "TRY! YAMANASHI! Demonstration Experiment Support Project" sponsored by Yamanashi Prefecture, and has been working to solve the problem of transportation difficulties(ambulances being rejected by multiple hospitals).

On February 8, 2022, the first stage of the demonstration experiment, a simulation, was conducted at the Kyohoku Fire Department (jurisdiction: Nirasaki City, Hokuto City, Kai City; population: 110,730). Smart119 system reduced the time by 74.2% (or an average of 7 minutes and 06 seconds) for selecting and negotiating with hospitals during emergency operation compared to using regular telephone calls for the operation.


At the Kyohoku Fire Department, there are more than 4,000 emergency calls per year, and about one in five of them is a case of emergency transport difficulties, which is defined as a stay of more than 30 minutes at the scene and making more than four inquiries to medical institutions. As the number of requesting and negotiating for acceptance increases, the time spent at the scene by the emergency rescue team also increases, which places the injured person at a higher risk.

A questionnaire survey of the emergency rescue team showed that this system, which allows them to simultaneously request and negotiate for acceptance and quickly determine the transport destination, is beneficial to the lives of citizens.

This demonstration experiment confirmed the results of the demonstration test which reduced the time required for emergency teams to select and negotiate with hospitals for transport by 70%, which was conducted on January 18 2022 with the participation of Higashi Yamanashi Fire Department, Yamanashi Prefectural Central Hospital, Yamanashi Kosei Hospital, and Yamanashi University Hospital.

The effectiveness of the emergency medical information service "Smart119" has been proven through demonstration tests at the Higashi Yamanashi Fire Department and the Kyokoku Fire Department. Yamanashi Prefecture will consider the introduction of this service with the aim of solving the problem of emergency transport difficulties (ambulance rejected by multiple hospitals) in the prefecture.
